Rialti introduces PP compounds containing PCR and PIR content at PRSE 2025

  • Rialti, a member of the Borealis Group, introduces new polypropylene (PP) compound grades containing a mix of post-consumer recycled (PCR) and post-industrial recycled (PIR) content at PRSE 2025
  • Designed for structural applications in the mobility, appliances, construction, and home & gardening industries, the new grades provide a sustainable and cost-effective alternative to virgin materials
  • The new grades are an example of the spirit of EverMinds™ in action, demonstrating Rialti and Borealis’ shared commitment to accelerating the transition to a circular economy for plastics

Rialti, a leading European polypropylene compounder and recycler, is launching new compound grades containing both post-consumer recycled (PCR) and post-industrial recycled (PIR) content at the Plastics Recycling Show Europe (PRSE) 2025. The grades provide a competitive alternative to virgin materials, helping customers in key industries meet their sustainability targets without compromising mechanical performance.

The new grades are designed for structural applications in sectors where material properties are critical. This includes mobility, where they help meet the anticipated End-of-Life Vehicle (ELV) targets, as well as industries such as construction, appliances, and home & gardening—where sustainability is increasingly valued, even in the absence of regulatory drivers. With recycled content ranging from 30-40% PCR and 20-40% PIR, the new compounds* offer a cost-effective way for manufacturers in these industries to significantly improve the sustainability of their products.

Rialti was acquired by Borealis in 2023. Operating from its facility in Varese, Italy, the company produces up to 50,000 metric tons of mechanically recycled PP compounds annually. The new hybrid PCR/PIR grades complement Borealis’ premium Borcycle™ M portfolio, demonstrating the synergies between the two companies in advancing sustainability across all applications. "

At Borealis, we’re continually expanding our portfolio of high-performance recycled-content solutions to cover the widest possible range of applications and industries”, explains Shanila Baseley, Borealis Vice President Mobility and Advanced Products. “Rialti’s new grades are a perfect example—containing both post-consumer and post-industrial recycled content while maintaining key mechanical properties, they provide a practical solution for manufacturers in cost-sensitive industries seeking sustainable alternatives to virgin materials.”

The new grades will be introduced at PRSE 2025, where visitors can learn more about how Borealis and Rialti are working together in the spirit of EverMinds™ to accelerate the transition to a circular economy for polypropylene.

*The new grades are: RIALFILL® B 3 V 20 D3 40 PCR BLACK, RIALFILL® B 3 V 40 D 40 PCR BLACK, and RIALGLASS® B 3 V 30 C 30 PCR BLACK.
