Borealis Science Week
Developing and stimulating interest in natural sciences and technology amongst young people is vital in finding innovative solutions for a sustainable future. Since 2016, Borealis has been supporting the Unga Forskare organization through the Borealis Science Week. The program enables students aged 15 to 16 to spend one week of their summer holidays at one of Gotheburgs modern university labs every year. The students perform experiments, take on challenges, get insights in the life of researchers, and meet new friends. Unga Forskare is a Swedish non-profit association for young people interested in natural science, technology, and mathematics.
Gaining Insight Into Life as a Researcher
Borealis' contribution makes it possible for Unga Forskare to organize a research camp for young people every summer, supported and guided by students of the University of Gothenburg. As tutors, they organise educational activities and experiments during that week. Borealis Science Week aims to inspire young people to develop an interest in natural sciences, which is decisive for our future work for a sustainable future.

Borealis Science Week 2022 Theme: the New Planet
During the 2022 Borealis Science Week, the students had the opportunity to take part in many different experiments. The main theme for the week was called “The new planet” where the students were tasked with colonizing an uninhabited planet. The students, among other things, programmed a robot to follow a line on the floor and built their own electromagnetic generators. Here are some quotes from the 2022 participants:
"The experiments were fun, and I have made new friends"
"It has been interesting and I have learnt stuff I didn't know earlier."
