Operation Clean Sweep

Borealis is committed to prevent plastic from leaking into the environment, for example through its long-standing engagement with Operation Clean Sweep® (OCS), a global initiative dedicated to preventing pellet loss. Borealis was the first polyolefins producer who carried out third-party external audits for OCS in its Kallo and Antwerp production locations in 2021, which served as pilot to help test pellet loss prevention standards and contributed to the establishment of an OCS third-party audit and certification scheme, launched in 2022.

Borealis is preparing to receive full third-party OCS certification of all European sites by end 2024 and continues to regularly engage with employees and value chain partners on OCS best practices and innovative technical solutions to prevent pellet loss.
